Gold Crest surveyors were commissioned by the buyers of our property. Their surveyor arrived 30 mins late and spent most of the visit outside the front of my property vaping. My property had just undergone a £20k refurbishment which i advised the surveyor of the work that had been done. During the visit he knocked over his ladder in the hallway causing damage to the wall on my freshly refurbished house and didn't own up to this and also left an upstairs lights on which wasn't noticed till the evening by a neighbour (the property is empty). On completing the survey I was advised everything was fine and he wished they were all this easy!! When the buyer shared the property report, my initial reaction was that this report was for a different property. As a retired former senior property professional, I was shocked to read so many errors, wild assumptions and a large number of urgent defects to rectify. Also the main body of the survey was relating defects to current building regulations which cant be applied retrospectively. such as ventilation, dpc clearances, drainage. Worrying exmples included cracks in walls caused by broken drains at the front of the property, there was no indepth survey completed or evidence to support this. Also there are no drains at the front and the cracks were actually joins in lining wallpaper with the report stating an urgent survey needed, really! Wild assumptions about the presence of Japaneese knotweed, dangerous gas and electrical installations which are certified by competent trades and a comment stating the boiler doesn't show evidence of servicing, a very dangerous assumption by an unqualified person. Also green staining on the roof which needs washing! A statement stating the render has been freshly applied to cover up cracks with an urgent survey needed, again a wild unsubstantiated assumption. Issues relating to almost every element of the property were highlighted and when surveyed by a different company 98% were found to be wildly inaccurate, dangerous assumptions or guesswork. I could go on with a lot more inaccurate issues written in the so called RICS approved report. In all my years as a property professional, i have never seen such a poor, inaccurate and downright dishonest property condition survey, hence why i feel strongly enough to warn others before they engage the services of Goldcrest. Needless to say like others who have commented on here, their report scared off my buyers leaving me out of pocket and rather annoyed. My former buyers are actively complaining to Goldcrest about the huge errors in the report they paid good money for. I am also raising my concerns with the RICS for their attention. Stay away from this company if you want a quality survey and a smooth sale / purchase of your home. If I could have awarded 0 stars I would
