I have been a Groupon user for quite a while. So, I had developed a trust on their product and service offerings. However, I have learned my lesson and will no longer will be a Groupon user. I would advise others to follow suit, until you have a sour experience like me. Don't rely on them. Recently, Groupon offered a Tree Removal Service, CAMS TREE SERVICE, offering 50% off for tree removal. They charged me $250 upfront for the service. I contacted the removal company. They came, took a look at the job and we negotiated to get the job done for $1200. They asked for a 1/3 advance deposit, i.e. $400. I wrote them a check in that amount. Four separate appointments were scheduled to get this job done but every time it was a n show. They didn't even bother to call me and say that they wouldn't make it. Every time, I called, I was told that they are sorry and rescheduled. Finally, when they did not show up, nor called the fourth time, I called. But this time, until now my calls are either not answered, nor returned. This morning, When I called, I found out that they have blocked my number. When I called from a different number, there was an answer but when they heard my voice, they hung up on me. It looks like they have run away with the $400 advance payment. So I notified Groupon. They initially responded by giving me the $250 they charged my credit card with $250 Groupon bucks, LOL! When I insisted that my credit card be credited instead of Groupon bucks, they obliged. What did they think? That after this, I would do business with them again? I checked the Groupon site this morning. That Groupon offer is still there!!!! so that more innocent and trusting people could get ripped off? I am amazed that Groupon wringed their hands off just by giving me the $250 back (if they had refused, i would have disputed it by calling my credit card company) and telling me to contact my financial institution for the rest. Hey, I paid by check and the money is gone! What makes me mad that they referred me to this fraudulent business, does not care investigating it nor taking the offer off before more get hit by these fraudsters. Talk about Groupon's social responsibility, talk about respect for their customer. If you read this, please be careful before you deal with Groupon. You will lose your hard earned money; they wouldn't care. I URGE THAT WE BOYCOTT GROUPON. A business that condones fraud is no different from a FRAUD! Shame on you, Groupon!
