I purchased a non refundable voucher to stay at hilton Hotel on 03.4.20. I purchased using my debit card on 27.01.20.
Due to covid19 I rang groupon on 25.03.20 to query if my booking was still OK. They said they didn't kno & i should ring the hotel myself to check? Although the hilton is there partner not mine.
I rang the hotel and they stated THEY would be cancelling my stay due to covid 19 and to call groupon 4 a refund. I rang groupon and explained all of this but they asked for proof. I rang back the hilton 2 get proof but they said they couldn't give me this info due to data protction as groupon had never given them my personal details but as they were partners groupon could call them and they would authorise a refund. Groupon never called them and offered me credits numorous times even though I sent them a screenshot from hiltons website CONFIRMING all hotel bookings including non refundable were to be refunded WITHIN 30 DAYS. They never paid me back my money so I took up a case with paypal and my bank. Paypal refused my claim with no reason y but my bank refunded me my money. Thank goodness for great banks( HSBC) who listen and take claims seriously.although I should have been covered by the money back guarantee.
