I had purchased a sofa bed , dining table and chairs , coffee table and a rug on 23rd March this year from ikea and opted for home delivery. The coffee table and rug didn't quite go with the decor. We had packed it back pretty neatly immediately for the return of those 2 items only. When I took it back to ikea wembly for a return the customer care executive told me that the rug is fine and can be refunded, however the coffee table cannot be returned as it's product from 5 years back and is discontinued as per the label on the box. We hv moved in this city in jan 2019 , how is it even possible we hv such an old item. Moreover I had all the invoices which clearly showed the purchase on 23rd March and we were returning it within a month. The product was delived to us by ikea only. It just seemed they were trying to find excuses and making things up which didn't quite add up.
The label mess up was from ikea' s end and not our problem .The mess up was not at all expected from ikea in the first place. Finally we got a voucher for the item and not a refund which we should hv as we had returned an unused item with proper invoice. It was quite a harassing and unpleasant experience. I would definitely think twice before purchasing anything in the future as the return was quite a hassle for no fault of ours.
