I bought this watch to wear as a day-to-day timepiece. I tend to wear them constantly, rarely taking them off, so I like the idea that it was waterproof and had a tough design.
I'm quite fussy about watch designs, that's to say I like them relatively fuss-free. I like the elegance of the design and the almost industrial feel it has.
Titanium is a lovely material. It's tough and light, but has that gunmetal colour that is more understated than stainless steel. Most of the case is brushed, with only small areas being polished. I'd have preferred the metal to be all brushed, but it's not too obvious as it is.
The sapphire glass has an anti-reflective coating on the inside which work very well. I like the glass being flat rather than domed too.
The face is matt black. This is especially nice and much better than opting for a gloss or reflective / patterned face. The one thing I would like to see removed is the Royal Marines logo as it's quite unnecessary.
The hands are simple and chunky (except for the second hand, which might have looked better with a skeleton design). A nice touch is that the second hand aligns perfectly with the second markings throughout the whole minute. I think that's a sign of quality. I would say that the thing that lets this watch down is it's luminous markings. They really are only just adequate and work ok once your eyes are dark adapted. I've seen better though.
I initially bought the watch with the material strap. This is a very nice strap which is made with Kevlar. It has chunky eyelets in titanium too. Although I like this strap a lot, I wanted something that would not get smelly after a time so I purchased the titanium bracelet too. It's a great bracelet (although, with small wrists, I had to have five links removed). There's a safety bar that's held in place when it clips into two spring balls. I've had straps before where this bar is held in by just friction, so I was very pleased with the extra design detail. The actual push button design to open the bracelet seem very secure (even without the additional safety bar). I would have liked to see some micro adjustment though, as you have to add / subtract whole links (well, ideally pairs of links to keep the clasp central). I was lucky that the five links worked for me.
Overall this is a very nice watch. It's chunky design is both strong and light-weight. I like the Eco-Drive technology too. Haven't had it long enough to test the accuracy, but I'd hope that it lives up to Citizen's reputation.
