How are they still in business???????? I’m going to bullet point because this is so long winded. At the beginning of this entire saga I put it down to incompetence but now I believe these guys are just dirty thieves. I’m having to take them to court as they have in their possession both the broken car that they tried to sell me and my money. I’ve listed the problem car at the below. Firstly….. • They tried to take off £500 from my part ex and add on £500 to the car they were selling and thought I wouldn’t notice the £1000 difference on the paperwork. I spotted the ‘error’ • They mis-sold the Platinum warranty. After multiple lengthy discussions about the cover, with me specifically clarifying all that sounded wrong, they just lied. As I was already suspicious the day the warranty went live I called up A1 cover to confirm the claims made by J17’s finance manager. They were all lies. Instantly requested a refund, got ignored. • They changed and submitted the wrong agreement to the finance company without consulting me. This later had to be unwound. They tried to get me to pay monthly fee directly to them totalling £4,500 over 2 years as it was missed off the agreement. • Communication internally between the J17 team during this process was just unimaginably poor, I literally did all the work for them. Liaising between a broker, J17 and the finance company to get it all sorted. When I went to pick the car up, they still had no idea it had been paid for. NOW the real issue arises. • After collection, the car was booked into a specialist to give it a once over as it was a used car. Turns out it had a bottom end knock, £4,500 was the est’ to resolve this, it needed a bottom end rebuild. This price doesn’t consider a list of other issues too. • I took the car back the day the specialist had looked at it, this is just 9 days after the initial collection. • Before they had even looked at the car they are giving phrases like ‘general wear’ ‘to be expected with a used car’ It appeared they were well rehearsed on this scenario. • They advised me they would have an independent specialist look at the car. With a few emails exchanged I did what they requested and submitted my evidence, pictures of brass flakes in the oil and report from the specialist. • I officially rejected the car and asked for a refund 3 times in writing within the first 30 days. They have ignored this and me. • They went quiet on me and I was chasing constantly with little or no responses. • I picked the car up 07.10.24 returned it on 15.10.24 the last email I received from J17 was on the 28.10.24 to say the specialist was looking at it that day. Then…. nothing else……… despite my efforts I have been ignored completely. • 27.11.24 I went to collect my belongings from the car and drop off the spare key, no one offered any apology or explanation, no one came to advise me on anything, they just didn’t care. Sales team asked what was happening with the car, I explained the situation and got “spfffft, that sounds about right for Jamie….” They all know the score. • It is now the 29.11.24. I have had no response to emails, phone calls. I have sent a notice of legal action which they received on the 18.11.24 I’m sure it will just be ignored and it will no doubt go through the courts. If anyone is thinking of buying a car from here beware, take it to be checked during the test drive. When it goes right I’m sure it’s great but from what I have experienced, read on google and heard from surrounding business they are careless, they just sell the cars as they buy them with little to no checks. If something goes wrong, they will act like your best mate, playing the game very well. The rely on a tactic of mis communication in all aspects to disguise their shady practices so it looks like an accident, error or incompetence. They all know what they’re doing. A few years ago I may have acted differently. Now, I’m going to through the motions, let’s see where we get. The car I part exchanged also had issues (I was completely transparent about this and they happily took it in) so be aware as I suspect they won’t have completed the work correctly.
