“Scam” doesn’t quite do this operation justice. It’s outright fraud, an elaborate criminal enterprise. All the profiles on the site are of very attractive women, a statistical near-impossibilty even in Colombia. Then you get a steady stream of “women” who are interested in you and write to you in AI-generated English pickup lines instead of the normal “Hi, how are you?”. When I switched to Spanish, they were able to also, with no explanation as to why they started out in English. After just one short conversation, my introductory free credits expired, and the rates for buying new credits are just unbelievably expensive. I tried to pass two different “women” my WhatsApp number to avoid paying $.13 per message (!), and no matter how I tried, including a photograph of my number written on paper, she suddenly played dumb and said she couldn’t see the image. I asked “her” to send me a screenshot so I could see how the image was getting scrambled or whatever, and “she” said “she” didn’t know how to do that on a computer. I asked “her” to take a picture of the screen with her phone and send it, and “she” said “she” doesn’t have a phone! That’s when I gave up, told “her” I wasn’t born yesterday, and congratulated “her” on how proud “her” parents must be. Meanwhile the AI-generated English messages were still pouring in from other fake accounts, but $20 and an afternoon of my life was enough to waste on this nonsense. You can see from one of my screenshots the kind of images they use to hook guys in. If you’ve been around the block, you know this is too good to be true.
