I was taken by ambulance to the LRI Accident & Emergency Dept last Thursday 23/1/25. After a 4hr wait in the ambulance I was admitted to PEP 4. I want to convey my gratitude to the staff in this unit for their kindness and excellent care. In particular Jake who looked after me and was amazing at drawing blood, an action that seems impossible on me according to my local GP practice. Also Dr Moaaz who was brilliant trying to sort a diagnosis and explaining his process to me to keep me fully informed and calm. They were excellent, kind and caring I cannot thank them enough, it's a pity that the after care with my GP (which is non existent) destroys all of their good work. It is fair to say that the LRI is definitely under stress with not enough staff or resources, the actual A & E department looked like a war zone with standing room only and crowds of people in need of medical care. The system is clearly broken and all of the staff do an amazing job working under very stressful conditions. Thank goodness that they care as obviously our politicians do not! Liz Stevens
