Would I use Macklin motors again? NO I definitely wouldn't. I recently purchased a car from them online to which I have never done before and I certainly wouldn't do it again. I first saw the car on motors.co.uk and it was titled SUPERB LOOKING CAR!! The photos taken backed the title up so after speaking to a sales representative at Macklin motors about a few worries I had about purchasing online I decided to buy the car and have it shipped to a local branch of their company(Bristol Street motors Sheffield).
After completing all the paperwork for the car at Bristol Street I finally got to see the car in the flesh. First impressions was yes it looks good until I got closer. The bonnet looked like someone had used it for air rifle practice as it was covered in chips, the wing mirror was split in half( photos showed wing mirror like new), all four doors had paint work damage and the driver's side visor was broken. When I lifted the bonnet to look at the engine I noticed that you could see the floor so on inspection I saw the the front bumper and the engine under carriage panel had been ripped off and just left. I just couldn't believe that the SUPERB LOOKING CAR!! as described on the website was in such a battered state even the salesmen at Bristol Street we're embarrassed on the presentation of the car.
I was ready to walk away and ask for a refund but the manager at Bristol Street motors reassured me that he would arrange for all the work that the car needed to be sorted and whilst this was happening I would be given a courtesy car to which I agreed. I just had bring the car in at a later date.
Whilst driving the car home from Bristol Street motors I heard a knocking noise every time I went over a the slightest bump (the car had been serviced and passed MOT) so when I returned home I emailed the manager to have a look into this aswell when the car was brought in.
This bits the best, after a bit of investigation I found the photos that were shown when I was buying the car were two maybe three years old as the mileage was showing as only 16,000 when in fact it is 34,000. Are they actually allowed to do that is it legal ?
Finally I took the car in to Bristol Street motors and just to show you how much damage their was to the car they actually had the car in total for 16 days and the work
work cost around a thousand pounds to rectify. I cannot thank Bristol Street motors of Sheffield enough for rectifying all the problems but I would never buy or encourage any one to buy from Macklin motors ! I was told twice that someone from Macklin motors would call me but I never heard a thing from them.
