Abyss is one of our all time favorite 2 player games, and just as good, if not better, with more. It's got just the right complexity and level of decision making, mixed with this need to constantly watch others and play a bit faster than you want to at most times. Someone getting caught with only 5 lords, when another player closes the game with 7, can be the difference between winning and losing. You'll want to keep those lord powers by not taking a location, but there is a time to let go. I am crazy, and not saying anyone else should do this, but I own four copies so that we can play it in all of it's possible configurations. Our favorite is probably just with Kraken. Leviathan is alright, vanilla is always fun, and both expansions mixed is good, but it's longer and you may have to answer some rules questions with a hasty house rule, just to move on with the game. If you like the game, I would also suggest what we refer to as "Lil Biss", conspiracy. The thematic connections to it's bigger sibling does very little to sway our opinion, lil biss is just a solid and quick game.
