If Hermes was a company operating in the United States they would have long ago been subject to a 'Class Action' lawsuit by their many angry customers and sued into oblivion for their dire service...alas here in the UK we have a very limited scope to do the same meaning Hermes can get away with their shoddy practices and service without consequence! As for me, a close friend sent via Hermes a package containing personal gifts on the 6th of October. He sent me the tracking link allowing me to follow the 'progress' of this parcel. I say 'progress'...6 DAYS after they took the package and after daily cryptic updates about its ongoing progress (not where actually is) I get the update everybody who has had use these cowboys dread: "We're sorry your parcel has been delayed, we'll have it on the move in the next 24 hours". The system later updates that day to: "Your parcel is at our local depot and on its way to you" - my thoughts like most being "which depot?" The one it was sent from or the one close to where I live? Since the 13th the 'parcel tracking' system defaulted back to sulking with: "We're sorry your parcel has been delayed, we'll have it on the move in the next 24 hours" and it hasn't changed since! Where is my parcel? Who knows...is it at an auction house somewhere...maybe. Will I ever see this parcel ? Probably never! To add insult to injury the local Hermes delivery partner 'Highland Parcels' are diabolical meaning even if my parcel makes it from Hermes to their sorting depot in Inverness I am not out of the woods yet. There is one silver lining in all this due to living in Scotland...the Scottish Government brought the ability to raise Class Actions into Scottish law this year meaning at least for Scottish consumers we will be able to start the process of actually getting some redress from this utter disaster of a company!
