Paul Duke
On the year of her 50th birthday after over 20 years of service where she personally attained Nordstrom's own All Star and Pacesetter awards along with being an award winning buyer and floor manager, Nordstrom has made the decision to terminate my wife's employment as a department manager citing "lack of passion" as her reason for demotion. Even though she remains to this day as one of the top departments in her store and in comparisons of other similar departments nationwide. She has been praised and supported over twenty years by many great managers who would steadfastly vouch for her still to this day. She has always been considered a role model and an awesome Nordstrom citizen. It comes as a great surprise and disappointment to know that upper management at Nordstrom would let this happen. I can't help thinking about one of the episodes of Undercover Boss where a longtime employee caught being a great person and mentor and always having the companies back is rewarded with so much recognition and rewards for her many years of great service and then have to contrast that thought with the demeaning and belittling way that Nordstrom's is handling the maturity of my wife's employment. Too young to retire but at such a difficult time to start over, the next few years could have been her golden years with the company where she could go out doing what everyone has known her to do so well, she would have been remembered as one of the solid ones who the young stars could look up to respect and emulate.
