I was looking for a charger that could charge a single cell. Most chargers have to charge in pairs. My situation was of a set of 4 NiMH cells, operating in series, that used the radios internal charger was not equally charging all 4. One battery had dropped to .87 volts. Normally that would be considered a spent battery and be tossed. Charging as a single unit might bring the battery back to life. The TN486U started a charge cycle. If the battery was not capable of charging there is an indicator light for that. The battery is a high capacity 10,000 D cell. An active 4 segment charging indicator confirmed the cell was accepting the charge current. As the battery progressed the first, second, third and finally fourth indicator segments went solid. In 18 hours the battery was brought up to 1.4 volts. After 2 hours it settled to 1.38 volts which is close to what the other batteries had measured. Ordering was easy to find the unit I desired. Shipping was free. I put in my order late on a Saturday and it arrived Thursday afternoon. Being able to charge a single cell and mix AAA, AA, C, D and 9 volt NiMH and NiCD makes this the only charger you need to have. Great product.
