My first and only experience of rated people has not been good. My partner put an "ad" on at 10pm one evening and at 9 am two men knocked on my door totally unannounced and had not gone through rated people (they got it from just my postcode and chanced their luck)! I am a middle aged lady with a toddler and had two men who I have no idea who/where from etc are and proceeded to give me an extortionate quote which was beyond ridiculous when the materials would have cost them £200 max and I was quoted 8k for not much work. I asked for something in writing or by e mail and it has never arrived but they continually hound me by text! These two builders from Doncaster were con men without a doubt and I was stupid to even let them over the threshold. This is a shame as i am currently waiting for a company from Nottingham to turn up at a specified time. He rang beforehand to arrange a time and date and I have been a able to research them on the Internet. Maybe it's just the two other guys who give honest builders a bad name.
