We spent an amazing week in the Mara, we were not allowed to do anything for ourselves at the Karen Blixen camp and were totally spoilt. The tents were in a beautiful location on the river and complete luxury. Loved the outdoor shower! The game drives were very well organised, our guide was very knowledgeable and we saw everything except a cheetah, but the leopard and her cub more than made up for that. We did the hot air balloon trip and saw the sun come up over the Mara followed by an excellent champagne breakfast out in the bush. The Pinewood Lodge staff also looked after us very well at Diani Beach. The food there was top notch with a different theme every night. If we would do anything differently next time we would perhaps spend a bit longer at the camp but intersperse the game drives with some quiet days, as it is in such a lovely location it would be nice to just chill out and watch the world (and the hippos) go by. Sadly a lot of people have been put off going to Kenya because of the recent troubles, but I have to say we felt totally safe so I would say to anyone having doubts about it just do it and go!
