I bought refrigerator RF18HFENBSR at Lowes at a discount. Not clear why it was discounted, but it was advertised as in working order.
After a few weeks the fridge part started getting warmer. It varies between 50 and 60 degrees. In other words, useless.
I called Samsung about the warrantee. First they said it would be repaired. Then they said I would be sent a new one in up to three weeks. Then they offered me a credit because they did not have any repair service and were out of stock of this fridge. All of this took 11 days while I have no fridge. I'm getting contacted by one team via text and another one via phone and they apparently don't talk to each other. I call back and they ask me to provide info I've already provided. One person tells me they don't have access to info because it is the other person's department. Total chaos; delays. The only thing they are good at is apologizing. After a while I told them to stop apologizing because that is not a valid response. If you are sorry about something, YOU DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. What a horrible, horrible company. I will never ever use Samsung again #neversamsung.
They finally get their messaging straight and I'm offered $650 for the fridge. But this is the amount I paid Lowes, not the value of a new fridge. I explain to them that I cannot get a new fridge like this one for that amount of money, and the warrantee is in place to ensure my ongoing use of the fridge I purchased. So it is not fair to leave me stranded like this, my new fridge does not work and I have to pay $600 or so more to replace it. That is NOT the sprit of the warrantee. I also said I would be happy to take an equivalent fridge, but I was informed there was no such thing. The person talking with me was a stone wall with two messages: "We are so sorry" and "We can't do anything about it". Both claims are patently false. This company does not care about its customers and thinks that it doesn't need to be fair. I gave in and took the payment. THEN AND ONLY THEN was I informed it would take seven to fourteen days to process the refund (ACH)! Are you kidding me? Complete nonsense. So now I have to come up with a fridge without the money from the refund to help. Not to mention that I'm already 12 days into not having a working fridge due to their inefficient customer service.
A final stupidity: I called a local appliance repair center and ask them to repair the fridge. However, they are not allowed to work on appliances that are under warrantee, and Samsung will not provide them with the parts for such appliances. UNBELIEVABLE! (though probably a standard practice) Why shouldn't I have the option to repair a fridge if they can't? Welcome to the wasteful and environmentally toxic practices of modern mega corporations (but I don't doubt that they are so so sorry about this). And who gets to dispose of the non-working appliance at their own time and expense? Just one more way I'm screwed by this horrible, horrible company.
I owned a galaxy phone for a while and I had no complaints. I was ready to be a fan of the company. Now I'm an enemy.
