I used to go to Savers to buy comfy sweaters and home goods. However, lately it’s become ridiculously expensive and kind of gross. I couldn’t find a good quality sweater that wasn’t pilly, ripped, or stained for under 11.49. It seems they have priced all decent sweaters $11.49 across the board. Before if a sweater was damaged, it was reflected in the price. I’m all set with paying double digest for a used sweater. I’ll go to TJs and find new stuff on sale for 3 dollars more.
I also went for serving plates and again, what once was 5 or so dollars is now $9. That’s not so bad but on top of the price hike, most of them were damaged. I had to dig to find one I could actually use.
Everything is donated so why are they charging so much? I get overhead but 7 bucks for a ratty sweater or 9 dollars for a chipped platter isn’t worth it. and they have self checkout so there aren’t a ton of workers.
Lastly, its dirty now. Dusty, and kind of gross and last time I went, it smelled like pee.
I know there are resellers out there who buy from them and sell; perhaps they got annoyed by this, but what about the rest of the people. Also, who cares if people resell stuff. Let them make a living. Either way, I think the majority of people go there for the cheap prices as I did. That’s really hard for families not to be able to rely on them anymore.
I just feel badly and am disappointed. I thought Savers was the good guy but they are just another greedy corporate entity preying on low income families. I’m only going to go to real non-profits going forward.
