I placed an initial order with this company, and sent an email asking for confirmation that the whiskies ordered were of the release date illustrated on the website. I received no response to my query, only an email saying the whiskies had been shipped. I telephoned and spoke with Mr Sims, who was very pleasant, and he explained that emails to Shop4whisky.com take three days to reach him from another department, which filters out routine messages. Mr Sims assured me that, should the whiskies not be as described, I could return them for refund or replacement.
The parcel duly arrived, and both bottles were not as described: one being of a quite different brand from the same distillery which produces the whisky I ordered. I telephoned Mr Sims, who apologised for the "picking" error, which he said was down to him personally, and he has agreed to uplift the original parcel, retain the whisky with the wrong release date, and forward the correct brand which should have been "picked" from stock. Mr Sims said this was his first "picking" error in over two years.
I thanked him for his proposed resolution of the error, and await collection. I reminded Mr Sims that you never get a second chance to make a first impression.
