We had our doubts because of a special tapered crankshaft, but my son and I were assured by the salesperson that the small engine we bought was the direct replacement for the Briggs & Stratton engine on my Craftsman lawn vacuum. He said that if it wasn't, we could simply return it for a refund if no oil or gas had been added. True, but not what we were expecting. As soon as we removed the new engine from the box, it was evident that the crankshaft had no taper, and was visibly too short. I did ship it back to Small Engine Warehouse, but it cost me $62 to ship the $200 engine back. No return shipping label was provided. I don't doubt that my $199.17 that I paid for the engine will be refunded to my card. But returning the $62 it cost me to ship the engine back is in serious doubt. We should have been told up front that no shipping label would be provided, and that even though the mistake was made by Small Engine Warehouse, not us, the cost of the return shipping would be our responsibility. I guess that I've been spoiled dealing online with Amazon, Walmart, Sam's Club, Home Depot, etc. I don't see any way that Small Engine Warehouse could know what it cost me to ship the engine back. Even though I've been assured that the $199.17 will be refunded to my card, I'm still going to be out the $62 I paid for return shipping, due to their mistake. I am disabled/retired and 73 years old, and $62 hurts. To be fair, if I'm able, I will amend this review if my shipping costs to return their mistake is refunded. I'm not irate with Small Engine Warehouse, as to begin with, we doubted that the engine we bought would have the special crankshaft required to work on the lawn vac. But no mention of the return shipping cost, if the engine couldn't be used, was mentioned.
