Our Mountain Rescue Team uses SMS Broadcast to inform all our members about each members availablity for a callout. All memebrs recieve the callout by SMS from the emergency services system, and we each reply with our availability, this reply sends an email to trigger SMS Broadcast to distrubute the reply to all our members. Although the distrubution is not a critical thing (as it is secondary to the main callout), during the years that we have been using SMS Broadcast it has always been reliable and never missed a callout, It now acts as a backup for us to the emergency services system. We can have up to 1600 SMSs per callout (40 members to 40 members) and there is no distrubution lag as with other systems we tried that limit the number of SMS/minute. As the pricing is per SMS then we have no monthly fees so we pay for what we use, as we are funded soley by charitable donations then price is of importance. The distrubution lists are easily set up and maintained. Members can easily be disabled the re-enabled for when they are away (without having to type in the number again). The automatic top up means we can simply forget about it and get on with the job in hand. SMS Broadcast provides a valuable serivce for our memebers, and has exceeded our expectations on reliabily.
