Unimpressed
Poole branch. Ridiculous conversation yesterday morning at 8am for 5mins . Telling me I am not entitled a sight test until July next year . I kept saying yes I know but I still want to have one because I need new glasses. I can’t see through one lens as the coating has deteriorated. Then said well if that’s the case come in and we will see what we can do with them. I said I have already done that but you said you can’t fix them. She replied well no we wouldn’t because they are outside of the warranty. ?? Why tell me to bring them in with a view to fixing then ! 🤯 She carries on telling me I’m not entitled to an eye test and I keep acknowledging and saying I want one. Eventually instead of doing this dance she asks what would be easier have asked or said from the outset…’are you saying you will pay for your eye test’’. Erm …..yes! Why not just say you aren’t entitled to a funded test just yet (I’m diabetic) so are you aware you will need to pay for this. That would have been far easier. Then arrive today. They check all my details. Am I diabetic ? Yes, but I need to pay for todays test. But are you diabetic? Yes. Then you don’t pay your test. Even if it’s not due? Yes. (Thanks Christie!) Luke the optician was lovely and throrough. He says someone will be with me in a few minutes to choose frames. 20 minutes later I e long since chosen and I am still waiting. I let them know. Someone comes. I explain I forgot to bring a golden ticket discount voucher. They say don’t worry, you can bring in on collection. The frames £49. However apparently I will get a better deal if I go for dearer frames (£69 plus range) as certain treatments (thinning) are discounted. Ok what’s the difference in cost? £227 for £69 plus frames v £248. Ok, I go and look at the £69 frames but I just don’t like them. I decide to just pay the £248. He then tells me I do pay for the eye test ( make your minds up) and the bill is £305. So the eye test is £55 I ask!?! No it’s £25. How does £248 plus £25 equal £305? The price isn’t £248. You said it was. No that’s what it was if you chose a £69 pair. (Frown) so what’s the figure of of £227? With the golden ticket a £69 pair (it’s meant to be 25% so those maths don’t work). So you are telling me at no point have you actually given a price for the £49 glasses. Well yes, £305. But at the point we working out what was the best price you only ever gave me a price for frames I didn’t have in my hand ? Yes . 🤯. I eventually did by a more expensive pair but talk about confusing, contradicting, and ridiculous pricing that cheaper frames make more expensive spectacles. Really poor service and apart from the optician an overall impression of clueless
