Sykes Cottages has mopped up a large number of independent cottage companies over the last few years, so check your contract (which Sykes will say is with the owner of the holiday cottage, even though you will not know who the owner is and have paid nothing to them - questionable legality of passing the buck!). Sykes is a money grabbing giant with no thought for real people. All it is concerned about is its share of rentals. If your cottage has been cancelled due to Coronavirus, your contract has been frustrated, which means you are entitled to your money back. My advice is to (a) ask Sykes for the full name and address of the cottage owner (b) submit a money claim against BOTH the owner and Sykes for the whole cost of the holiday.
