Paid minimum deposit of £20 when we booked a two week holiday in January, for end of June, into early July, (during lockdown time.) Having read all the terrible reviews from the poor people who have paid in full and unable to get refunds, I decided to cancel my credit card and also lock the account so that they couldn't take the final payment on May 9th. Almost immediately I started getting emails, giving me the link to pay in full or option to pay cancellation fee. I've ignored them all - why should I pay for a holiday I can't have? Or cancellation fee? It's not my choice to cancel - I would have loved to go on holiday. As understand it, cottage owners can claim for loss of income from the government. And Sykes? All they've earned is contempt! I'm still getting plenty of emails from them, encouraging me to pay in full or cancel. If I don't pay, apparently my holiday will be cancelled! What a laugh - of course it's cancelled and not by my choice. I will continue to ignore them. OK, I've lost my £20 initial booking deposit, but I'm prepared to take that loss. I dare say they'll blacklist me, but do I care? Not a jot - I've no intention of ever using them again to book a holiday. I just thought I'd write this to encourage anyone else in a similar position. Don't be bullied by Sykes. If your holiday was booked for lockdown period, you owe them nothing so don't pay up. You can see from other reviews that you won't easily get a refund.
