Our flights were cancelled due to COVID, even if we were able to travel, we would have had to quarantine for 14 days making the entire vacation a complete waste. I contacted the property manager the same day the flights were cancelled, a week later after hearing nothing tried again (via VRBO, who also say they contacted the property manager). A few days later still no response whatsoever. Attempted to call and ended up on hold, never able to get through.
At this point, since Sykes Cottages appear entirely unwilling to even respond to me, I opened a dispute with my credit card company. Explaining the situation and hoping they would side with me.... of course, they instead sided with Sykes Cottages who claimed "the charges are valid"
I mean, sure they were valid when I booked and paid in full before sh*t really hit the fan, before my flights were cancelled by the airline and before I would have to quarantine for 14 days even if the flights had not been cancelled. But, instead of attempting some level of customer service and offering either a refund or an option to rebook with 24 months, they just ignore me and refused to issue a refund.

Now if only someone that worked there would realize that just because the UK is no longer under national lockdown (despite multiple local lockdowns, quarantine rules, increasing number of COVID cases etc.) that many travelers are facing issues and so a little compassion and maybe offering refunds would go a lot further than sticking their head in the sand. Better customer service would do a whole lot more for the bottom line of the company than the abysmal service currently offered.
