Hello, Thank you for helping me find the venue for the event on 11/6/22. Portland Suite was perfect for the occasion and perfectly accommodated 43 guests. However, a few things led us down a bit. 1. The temperature on 11/6/22 was 21 degrees outside. There was a Dj booked for the event and guests were dancing to the beats but after some time it got really hot and sweaty. I looked at the temperature of the room it was 19 degrees I tried setting it but did not work. 2. The chaffing pans/dishes were really old. The fuel did not work throughout. When the hotel staff was bringing in the chaffing dishes and handing them to the caterers they mentioned that the chaffing dishes haven't been used for long. This and the heat in the room led to the spoiling of food (massive) and had to throw away at the end of the event. 3. I had venue viewing on 6/6/2022 with the house manager and clearly explained the arrangement highlighting that I do not want the tables on the left next to the entrance. Later I phoned on 9/6/2022 to go through the arrangement has the number of chairs/tables/cutleries/napkins sorted and add about providing us chaffing pan/chaffing dishes(which i did not ask for initially on 6/6/2022). In that call, I mentioned that I want water jugs on the round table all the time, throughout the event by which I meant that I wanted Jugs on the tables where the guests will sit for starter/main course/desserts. On the day of the event when I reached the venue at 4 pm, I saw the table at the left of the entrance still there and when I mentioned to the staff to remove it they said they were instructed to have it there and it will be difficult for them to move that as underneath the table there were storage items. As I kept insisting that I do not want the table there also that I had highlighted it specifically on 6/6/2022 and we had a photo booth that we wanted to set up in that area they phoned the manager as of course they will work as per instructions from him. After a bit of rift, the staff were extremely helpful (specifically Sam) and agreed to move the table and help sort. Really thankful to them and appreciate it. But the manager was extremely difficult he kept saying he has been doing events for 27 yrs and knows it all (not only on the day of the event when the staff handed over the phone to sort the table issue but also in my first meeting on 6/62022 and on-call on 9/6/2022). As a customer how is it helpful to me that his 27 years of experience means nothing to me when the things that I had highlighted were ignored? And he doesn't let the person at the other end speak much but just goes on with whatever he wants to say. He needs to concentrate and work a bit on his listening skills. Staff also complained to me about same that he has been trying to speak to the manager about a personal issue for 3 months but had no luck as he never allows other person to speak. At the same time, a few of his suggestions have been very helpful. Having said all of this the event was a success.
