So after contacting the care and repair helpline when our printer tells us that the waste ink pads are coming to the end of their service life we were told 'don't worry. We don't repair that sort of thing we just scrap the printer and you can have a voucher for a new one.' We were told to take it into store and they would give us the voucher there and then. So we go in to the Blackpool store and guess what... We were lied too. We would have to be without a printer for upto seven days while a decision was made as to what to do about it. Needless to say we left the store and took the printer back home, as it was, at that point still working. I contacted care and repair again and this time I was told that as the printer cost more that £150.00 it would be a voucher but it would still be written off as it is a 3 year old machine. Fast forward to 12/11/2024. As expected printer finally says enough is enough and stops altogether. So off we pop to the worst store on earth, you guessed it. PC World Blackpool. We waited in the queue and Melissa came over to help. We explained what we had been told and she attempted to contact care and repair to get a write off code but guess what,,, they would not take the matter on. She said they told her it was a store problem and refused to deal with it. Her colleague told her to book it in as a repair though the service center but to request that the product be written off as it is old. She gave us a job sheet and said that we should go back to the store if we had not heard anything in a couple of days. Nothing has been heard since that day. I tried to contact care and repair but they have no updates and cannot see what is happening. So today 21/11/2024 we go back to the store. We have not gone earier as we have been busy and trusted the mighty Currys/PC World to do the right thing. When we spoke to the bemused Charley (Sales Manager) he said that the printer was waiting a repair. We questioned him as to why when we had been told mulitple times that it would be written off. He just shrugged his shoulders and said thats what they have decided (service team I suppose). We asked where the printer was and he said that it was still in store and that Melissa was not from their store but from another store. So for 9 days a printer has been sat in the Blackpool PC World store while we have been twiddling our thumbs. We asked him if it would have moved if we did not go in to store and he said 'no it would be sat there for weeks. I find it sad that a company the size of Currys/PC World still thinks it is good practice to sell a care and repair plan that is not only misleading but not even worth the paper that it is written on but what makes it worse is that you have no way of checking what is happening with you product as neither side talks to the other. We feel that I have been conned into buying a care and repair plan then told that we cannot use it for the intended purpose. We also bought a new printer as we work from home and needed to be able to keep working. Charley also told us that we could return the new printer for a full refund if less that 30 days had passed since we bought it but that make no sense as we have used it. I have also read the terms and conditions of the care plan and it states that if we book a product into one of your stores and you take more than 7 calendar days to repair it we can request a replacement product. That time has passed so I would like a replacement product. Really poor service and to be honest we both feel violated by the process and the way we have been treated by call center staff and store staff resectively
