We arrived at Flitwick station today and purchased our tickets at the machine. There was ABSOLUTELY NO warning that there were planned work and replacement rail services. No information during the ticket purchase process, no signage on the machine, anywhere in the ticket office and absolutely no staff on hand to ask.
Having paid full price for our ticket, to our surprise the train terminated at Harpenden where we had to take a bus that made us late for our appointment. The bus back between St Pancreas and Harpenden took over 2 hours!!!! It stopped at every station, including some that are never usually stops on the Bedford train. I am very frustrated that there was no information at all at Flitwick station or staff on hand, if I had known of the poorly managed rail replacement service I would have used the North Western service from Milton Keynes that is also convenient for us.
When I tried to complain on the website it kept crashing and in the end had to give up, feels almost intentional. Will be using the North Western service from MK going forward and recommend you do the same
