I don't know where to start with this company. I'm a female in my late 30s and after my Dad made me join The AA for winter months I decided to go for it. I have a BMW 1 series 2014. It has never broken down and I have never had any issues with it apart from a few break pads and tyre changes. Last month when we had the first batch of cold weather and temp drop my car made a banging noise on start up. I got a bunch of lights on the dashboard including the engine sign. My car then filled with smoke (as well as the exhaust was smoking). I was too scare to drive to work so I called the AA immediately. An engineer came out and said theres an issue with the engine turbo but I should take it to a garage asap and not drive it. When I took it to a garage I was told the head gasket blew and I cant drive it. I left my car and called the AA daily to check on updates. I have never claimed before nor have I ever had this happen to me in any car I've owned. I was told the engineer needs to come out to assess the damage. It took 2,5 weeks for an engineer to attend and another 6 days for the report to be submitted. In the meantime I had to pay for the garage to get the car back, I paid out over £1200 to get a new head gasket, oil cooler, pipes and several other things that had failed that morning stopping me from driving the car. The noise was unbearable. I finally got the call from AA today - I spoke to Ryan from Parts & Garage Claims who said the engineer report stated the issue was there before with the car and nothing is covered! He also continued to accuse me that its an ongoing issue and happened way before I had taken out the policy. I was then passed on to Nick - the Manager who carried on accusing me but added in that more accusations such as the Policy was 3 days old when I claimed, accusing me of insurance fraud. I was visibly upset, had a panic attack and it has affected my health in a serious way. I proceeded to say that I have lost out on £1000s of loss of income due to not being able to get to work for 2 weeks without a car, as well as having the policy for a month before it happened. Nick then proceeded to accuse me after I stated that the engineers report didnt say anything about other failed elements in the car. The said engineer didn't bother to check anything besides the head gasket, however there were 5 other things that failed and I had to pay for. This was ignored by Ryan in CS and Nick the Manager. I am truly appalled and shocked how I have been treated and will be filing legal action to get justice. I am appalled how any human can stoop to that level and accuse a customer for wanting to lose their own income deliberately and on top of that to pay out thousands for repair. In total this issue has cost me £2400 and AA has accused me of doing this on purpose. All calls are recorded that I intend to use in court and I also have luckily kept all MOT receipts and service receipts where its evident the car was in perfect condition until the incident I reported. AA has taken someone's misery and turned it into reasons not to pay on top of accusing their customers. Anyone who is thinking of joining AA - DONT DO IT! Especially if you want to add on Parts & Garage cover that my dad recommended to me in good faith being a single girl living alone. I deeply regret this decision and now have a long legal battle ahead of me. STAY AWAY!!
