I keep my muck boots in my entryway. They are easy to slip on to fetch the mail, fill the bird feeders, do yard work, shovel snow, and when the walk and drive are shear ice: muck boots with Yaktraxs attached do the trick. I just replaced a pair that had lasted for years, but recently developed a crack in the upper. (It didn't look like wear, and was likely damage from a sharp bladed tool stored near them, so, my fault.)
