I had been eying these goggles for about a year before I bought them. As a recreational swimmer in my early sixties, I was reluctant to invest in what seemed like a luxury to someone of my age or swimming ability. These goggles, I thought, are for all the young, swift dolphins who avoid swimming in the lane with me, the turtle. After a nasty eye infection I acquired while enduring an hour of swimming with leaky goggles in an overly chlorinated pool, I decided to seriously consider purchasing goggles that might really fit my face (I have a small head, and have usually worn youth or even children’s goggles, as adult goggles always have lenses that are too large or spaced too far apart). When my birthday came, I decided to buy myself the mirror gold goggle bundle, which was on sale. I think that was one of the best purchases I ever made! For the past several years, I have toted a plastic bag filled with four or five pairs of goggles. I have some pairs that are marked “breastroke only”, because they leak when I swim freestyle, and some that are my “maybes”, as they leak sometimes and not others. Every swim entailed swapping out two or three pairs, just to make it through my one hour in the water. I have thrown out many pairs of goggles, some after just one swim. I have been using the Magic5 goggles now for six weeks. At first, I treated them like all my other goggles, wearing them for the last half hour of my swim. Very soon, though, I noticed a difference – no leaking – at all! Ever! Now I use the goggles for my entire swim. I’m convinced I am swimming better as I am no longer worrying about my eyes or when I will have to stop to swap out goggles. I also do not suffer a headache from an overly tight strap or appear to have "raccoon eyes" from the suction. I even forget that I am wearing them. This has completely changed my swimming experience. These are the only goggles I will ever buy from now on. Time will tell how long they last (my other brands averaged about three months of swimming for an hour daily), but since they really work, I am willing to pay the extra money for a product that changes my comfort and protects my eyes.
