I had a ruptured brain aneurysm in 2009 & have suffered with many many migraines ever since....as much as 25 days out of a 31-day month. I've been "THE Medication Experimental Lab Rat" & "The Botox Poster Child" (as he called me) for my past Neurologist since. That Neurologist finally tried everything with me that he could so he sent me off to a Neurologist that specializes in Migraines. Hallelujah! At one point in my life after my aneurysm, I was on 44 pills A DAY. It screwed me up as a female, mother of 2 boys, my picture perfect marriage ended, lost my house, my job, my.....Life, all due to me becoming such a different person on all 44 meds a day. The struggle is & was very real! I've been on Botox every 3 months for 10 years now as a preventative, I take Nurtec as a rescue, Xanax for anxiety, 2 different depression meds & I suffer with RLS. Happy to say, I am now down to 8 meds a day. I've literally tried all the migraine preventatives & rescues. I hate taking meds....Hate It! I originally saw an ad on Facebook for Nerivio. I screen-shotted it, sent it to my Neurologist & we discussed it over my Botox appt. She sent in a Rx, Nerivio text me & we got it all set up. Took more time than I cared for it to take though. Yesterday, I finally received my 1st Nerivio. I had to use it today & was probably 40 minutes into my migraine when I put it on. I was very skeptical about it because again I was 40 minutes into it with horrible nausea, sensitive to light, noise, smell. Normally being 40 minutes into a migraine for me personally gives me around a 5-6 day straight dibilitating migraine. So absolutely time is a factor for me to jump at the on-set of a migraine. You can imagine where my mind was with this Nerivio. Everything else hasn't been very successful except Botox, what makes this device so special? Right? Well, I've tried everything else, what do I have to lose at this point. Unfortunately when you get migraines, you're probably like me & darn near willing to try anything. Oooohhhh My Goodness People! Let me say for starters I am beyond ecstatic that it is NOT "Another Medication". THAT was the #1 seller for me to be honest. The pros, it Killed my 40 minute migraine in a snap, well a couple snaps haha, it didn't hurt like those injections do, doesn't have a narley taste, there was no hang-over afterwards, it's legal, I could still drive & function, I'm able to customize my own intensity, it's quiet, convenient, easy to travel with, comfortable & seems like it was made just for me!! The cons, well, IF your insurance doesn't cover it, your 1st Nerivio is only $10....Yay, Great, Woo-Hoo, BUT, yep, there's a catch, a-to-good-to-be-true kind of deal....thereafter it's $49 (which is a hard hit for a single lady on disability & Medicare won't pay for it). With as many migraines as I typically get a month it's going to cost me over $100. I'm also a larger woman so the armband with the extention just barely fits. I wouldn't have been able to put it on myself, thank goodness I was around family that could help. Last, you have to have a smartphone to adjust the intensity. Why??? Bottom line is I have some serious thinking to do on this. Can I even afford over $100 a month for freedom or do I become another round of Experimental Lab Rat Medicine that IS covered by my insurance & IS affordable? I absolutely L❤️VE the fact that it isn't another pill to pop. I also L❤️VE the fact that each unit has 12---45 minute painless treatments to them, BUT I've only used it once so it's still to soon to tell the honest truth. Numbers talk and the stats of the research studies on this little fella is quite impressive!! I'm a lady who absolutely Does her homework especially when it comes to my health. You could say, I'm not a push-over & I stand firm for what I believe in. I ask questions. Really?? $49 each unit, but only $10 at the beginning? What? Seriously, what is that really about? Another Pharmaceutical getting paid the big bucks. Makes me mad that y'all get away with it when you have legit financially challenged patients out there (at no fault of their own by the way). So the real question is: do you need to be financially stable in order to get the Nerivio to live a fuller happier healthier life & be free of dibilitating migraines? Is it fair to make a person choose between putting food in their house or buying a pharmaceutical device? I'm still skeptical, y'all want honest reviews, then be able to take constructive criticism from the people who pay you well to do your jobs.....by a U.S. American woman who believes in Equality for EvErYoNe!
