As supermarket pies are all pretty terrible even M&S best pie ever I found had a cloying and sickly buttery pastry, I have been looking for somewhere to get proper pies like your mother used to make, the real pie company comes damn close with lots of meat and light pastry,they also look home made,I really loved the steak and kidney with tender beef and real lumps of kidney,also excellent are the best sausage rolls I have ever eaten,I am really looking forward to trying other fillings, for best results cook with mashed potatoes,peas,thick gravy,absolute heaven.
