Going to a liquor store and looking for sake is a terrible experience. The selection is usually poor, and if you don’t read Japanese, you have no idea what’s in the bottle, other than the processing classification. Tippsy has been an amazing find for me. I’m trying sake from all over Japan, I get info & education on each bottle, and it’s delivered to my door! The bottles are the typical 350ml size you’d purchase at a restaurant or bar, and each one has a detailed card so you know what you’re getting into before you crack it open. It’s a good amount to share with someone over an appetizer, or to enjoy alone over a full meal. Tasting notes and pairings are fantastic. I actually keep my cards, and write more notes on them: date I enjoyed, what I ate with it, my thoughts, etc. I wish I didn’t have to be home to sign for it, but Tippsy does a great job with shipping notices too, so I know exactly when to be home.
