TrustPilot is one of those companies that will take reviews for business both positive and negative, at least on the surface. Companies I presume create a relationship with Trustpilot to have negative reviews removed from the website. The reviewer is notified of this and prompted to provide additional information including sending personally information insecurely over the Internet with personally identifiable information to prove that they are who they say they are and that the review is legitimate. For obvious reasons this is a horrible practice through the means they are enforcing it since you would be sending information which can be used to open accounts in your name.
Sending invoices and other stuff through unencrypted email is one of the worst decisions one can make with their person information, especially sending it to a service that may or may not be using this information and passing it onto the companies. There are a lot of companies that will go out of their way to make things worse for companies that dare to speak out against them, therefore by providing this information to these companies, they are enabling reviewers to be hassled by companies that have stolen their money or have failed to provide a product or service.
While there are certainly issues with reviews online, Trustpilot's strategy is one of neglect and seems to serve as a means to help companies market themselves online rather than allowing reviewers to share their experiences online.
