Here's my review.
Loved it.
Oh! you want more....
OK, Firstly, I arrived far too early for my time slot but the girls at check in managed to move me to an earlier spot, which was helpful.
Craig did an introductory briefing to get us all in the mood and give us the ground rules.
The site of all the cars lined up in the pit lane is quite startling!
Being a more "mature" gent, I ignored the Ferraris and the Lambos and went for the magnificent blue E-Type Jag. (This was pre-booked - I don't think you can turn up and choose the car, as each has a certain amount of time slots available)
I had instructor Phil, who is brilliant. He is very calm and encouraging, and made me feel like I was doing a good job.
I had 6 laps with him, and after the slow opening lap, he encouraged me to try a bit harder on each lap.
OK, I didn't break any records but it was a really good experience.
So good, I went back for another few laps!
**Extra laps in the varoius cars are sometimes available, depending on if there are available slots, and these are at a really good rate.
Most cars have video on board that records your experience.
The Jag has the onboard video, but beware, the massive engine vibrates the video a bit, and is not 100% guaranteed to be perfect like it is in the smoother modern cars.
I got my video and it is fine though.
All in all, I rate U Drive as a very well organised, friendly venue, with cars to suit everyone, from little Minis to Massive Lambos. (I bet the mini is a good laugh!)
I can't speak for all the instructors, but Phil was brill.
I went from Yorkshire to Oxford especially for the E-Type as not many venues have one of these classics.
One of the guys in the photo/video studio did actually hint that the E-type might not be available forever. There used to be 2, but one was retired as its value kept going up and I think the owner has wrapped it up and put it away!
SO, if you want to drive th E-type.... book it now!!!!
Thank you,
Lee.
