When we first started trying to find a place to live it was a nightmare and Up&Up seemed to be the only place that made an effort to get people into their homes. It is a rent to own - but the plus is there no required commitment to own/buy. The problem is, Up&Up has a commitment issue on its own.
We've only lived in our house since the beginning of summer and every single time we've needed anything it has been a nightmare. The first time we had a maintenance request it took almost a month to get it done. It included our master bathroom toilet coming off the floor (the handyman couldn't believe they let us move in with it like that), which it had been doing since move in. He also shared concern because the carbon monoxide detectors were ancient, so he had to replace that as well. The third issue was the gas stove that was smoking and emitting horrible fumes when used. Thankfully once the handyman requested a new one given the circumstance, it only took about a week to get a new one. But this was after a month of trying to get something scheduled (not to mention we JUST moved in).
Now, here we are in November and we haven't had trash pick up in three weeks, and we've had another two, almost three week, maintenance request where nothing was scheduled or handled. THREE TIMES someone was scheduled to come out and they never showed. This was for a plumbing issue with the garbage disposal, and an outlet issue. (Which had to be replaced because it was OLD.) I've called and emailed constantly about the trash pick up and no one will resolve it. We've been paying for trash in our fees for rent every month but the county told us we actually weren't supposed to have service during any of that time due to the property owner not paying for the account. Because we are renters, we aren't allowed to fix the account; it has to go through the property owner. Up & Up and been ZERO help in getting this resolved. Meanwhile, we have trash bags piling up on the property with nowhere to take them. Which is what prompted me to write this review. Getting into the home was relatively easy, but you simply don't matter to Up & Up once you're in. They push that you handle maintenance issues on your own, and now I know why. But as a renter, I'm not coming out of pocket for issues on the property that aren't my fault. If anyone sees this and has advice, I'm looking into complaining with the county. They are required to provide this service to us (Up & Up) per our lease, so I might have to make a bigger deal than I wanted to.
