Easy booking through Vertoe's website with a fast confirmation email.
The storage I chose is located in a small shoe repair shop, at ground level, very close to Grand Central Terminal. Superfast check-in and check-out (too fast).
Upon check-in luggage is dropped and remains in the client area of the store (10 ft x 10 ft) together with those from other clients. The gentleman who received them only asked me if I had a reservation but never bothered to check it, nor did he tag my bags or give a receipt for them.
Upon check-out, the procedure was similar: just a couple of questions like "did you have a booking?" and "which are your bags?" without any verification on their side. They just told me to take my bags. I could have perfectly taken the luggage from someone else.
While I understand that this is unlikely and there seem to be two people present at all times in this very small store, their nonchalant attitude and procedure present some concern regarding the safety of the luggage. This is a point that could easily be improved with a simple tagging system.
Having said that, I left one locked suitcase and an unlocked backpack for the full day, and had no problem at all with the service. Paid the agreed flat per piece amount.
