This was our first river cruise and I was apprehensive about whether it would be too regimented - would we enjoy set dining times and sharing tables for instance. However, there really was no need to worry - from the minute we arrived the service was excellent. The staff were marvelous, the food excellent and the various ports of call were varied with really good guides. The cabin was smaller than on ocean going ships but still very comfortable and the steward was exceptional. There were some lovely touches on the cruise like blankets on the sunbeds and chairs so you could sit out if you wanted at night and on cooler days. We loved the whole experience and have already booked to try the Viking Ocean experience. Yes, I'd still prefer individual tables for two but otherwise - fantastic
