This company doesn't deserve the 1 star, but unfortunately I was unable to continue the review without doing so. I have never been treated so appallingly by an organisation who markets villa holidays that people save hard for all year around.
We visited Coral Bay Cottage in June of this year for a 2 week holiday. Within less than 24 hours after our arrival a burglary took place, whilst we had gone shopping for groceries. Frighteningly the burglars were still on the premises when we returned, but managed to escape through one of the bedroom windows. Valuable jewellery and money was stolen, which in normal circumstances would have been locked away in the safe, but we couldn’t operate the facility we found in the wardrobe.
We contacted Villa Plus for help and asked that they notify the owners and contact the Police. Sadly the Police were not interested as there was no forced entry and no property damage. The villa owners were also not very interested when they visited us later in the day. They were much more engrossed in telling us about their fruit trees, thus avoiding the serious matter in hand.
The attitude of the Villa Plus was disgusting when I spoke to them a few days after the incident. I explained that I was left feeling very vulnerable and unsafe and was considering flying back home and cancelling our second trip to Coral Bay Cottage in October. The response from the member of staff concerned was that this event could have happened anywhere in the world. This wasn’t what I wanted to hear.
Throughout the remainder of our holiday we didn’t received any support from either the owner or Villa Plus and on my return to the UK I cancelled our second trip.
Although the company policy is that deposits are not refundable, given the circumstances, the least they could have done was return our deposit of £759. The reasons given were that they would have to remarket the property causing further expenditure and that it was our responsibility to ensure the premises were secure. The only door that we physically opened was the front door which is used to gain entry and exit. I don’t therefore feel it is up to the hirer to go around checking other windows and doors that we had not used. We rightly assume that the owners would have left it secure after they cleaned the premises prior to our arrival.
We gave Villa plus 15 weeks (105 days/3.5 months) notice of cancellation. Since this date they have managed to book all 3 weeks that we had originally booked. As they have not lost any money the return of our deposit was not too much to ask.
Think again before considering using Villa Plus, there is no Customer care or else renting Coral Bay Cottage, Coral Bay, Cyprus. Once they have your money, they don’t care less.
