I have bought and sold cars with vindis for many years. They have been serviced at Vindis. At times ,I have had an especially good experience when they have been very helpful. I have now had such a terrible experience that suggests the place is in decline with outrageous people employed there. My five year old Polo was serviced there on April 3rd. The car runs well and I was surprised to hear it had a big fault : one I have never heard of in driving these cars for over thirty years. I expressed mild surprise and Neil Crockford told me they were seeing this a lot now. He told me they thought VW were using cheaper rubber now. This was to replace the track rod ends. The car was booked in for 2 weeks hence, given it would be coming up to its MOT. The evening before , Crockford phoned me to say they had been unable to acquire the parts. VW were not sending them over ! I expressed incredulity at what I was hearing and asked Crockford to get the part. They had wasted 2 weeks of time. Checking the National press, I could see no reports of trouble on VW parts.Indeed, other local garages, not VW linked, could acquire the part in less than two days. The car was sorted by another garage. I have discussed this with many people. Like me, they find it hard to believe any of this. It seems I was subjected to extreme incompetence or malice. This is not all. On April 3 rd, they also said I needed a new tyre as one was bulging. I asked if it was alright to leave with the tyre like that. They said it was fine. Feeling unsure, I went to one of the Kwikfit outlets. They were astounded. The tyre was illegal and dangerous . Vindis had made no effort to change it even though I was there on the site . What can one say ? What disgraceful behaviour in all respects from Vindis. I don’t think I can buy a VW ever again if it means dealing with them.
