If I could give 0, or -5, I'd be doing it. I don't know where to start with it to be honest. So, for some reason they removed my data (for a total of 2 months) which was an absolute nightmare because on the day they removed my data I started a community job that required me to drive and was reliant on my maps on my phone. Whenever I messaged someone or phoned, I was forever being passed around from person to person, which as you can imagine resulted in me being further from getting it sorted. Nobody knew what it was (at this point we hadn't figured out that THEY had removed the data).
I went into the local Vodafone branch in Aberdeen and they attempted to help on two occasions, by resetting a few things and telling me it 'might work', sending me away for 48/72 hours and advising that I should come back if it didn't start working thereafter. As you can imagine, this was really quite infuriating. I'm a very patient and polite person but this was taking the mick, I knew fine they hadn't a clue what was going on and were just trying to pan me off.
I eventually demanded that they cancelled my contract as I had been without data for about 2 months - I was paying for nothing basically. Oh, in this time I was forced to pay an extra tenner for data that they had added to my account 'until my actual data was fixed'. I had no idea that this would be an ongoing thing. Of course this didn't work because my data was basically blocked, and they tried to say that I should have phoned and cancelled it myself. They told me that because I was such a 'valued customer' (lol) that they would refund it for free - lucky me.
So when I asked to cancel my contract, I was fully prepared. I had looked up what I was entitled to and was pretty raging so I was ready to just tell them I wasn't taking no for an answer. The woman I was speaking to had told me that it was going to cost around £180 to cancel my contract. I knew that there would be a penalty, but this was absolutely ridiculous. My contract was due to end pretty soon anyway. She advised that there was nothing they could do for me, however passed me over a number for the disconnection team.
HERE is where it all changes. The guy I spoke to was honestly the nicest, most understanding gentleman I've ever spoken to with Vodafone. Initially, after I explained everything to him (it is quite a lot, so I'm sorry if this review seems all over the place) and after he checked my notes, he was totally behind my decision to cancel. I think he was pretty embarrassed with how I'd been treated. He had told me that whilst they were trying to figure out what they'd done to my data, they had reconnected me. I was aware of this, but what I wasn't aware of (as he kindly explained) was that this meant that my contract had kind of been rebooted, resulting in it basically starting again - hence why the cancellation fee was going to be around £180. He said this was a joke, apologised for everything, and to cut this long story to be short, sorted everything out, refunded me around £30 for my troubles (which covered my minuscule £7 cancellation fee) and last months bill.
I absolutely 110% detest Vodafone. I'm with Giffgaff now, hassle and stress free. Do not go with them. Just don't put yourself through it.
