Five months ago, I got out of an abusive year long relationship with Vodafone. I got a year long contract - a very expensive one as well (I think I was paying £40 a month). The contract seems good at first because I was paying half price at first and everything seemed to be working more or less fine. After a few months I moved houses and my connection was completely gone, except when I held my phone out of my window at an arms length and upwards! And even then the chances of it cutting off were very high. The only time it would more or less work would be in very specific places in central London and when I went home to Geneva. I was virtually stuck with an unusable phone for 10 months. I have called Vodafone a thousand times to ask what I can do. They told me first that there was some work being done in the area and it will finish in a few months. Then they said to turn my phone off and on having the adjusted some settings. None of this was true or worked. I've had to call people with my arm stretched out of my window for a year. (I have O2 now and it works perfectly, which means none of this is the fault of my phone itself.) After all of that, I finally called them to cancel my contract. I requested a PAC code at the same time. The lady said when my contract comes to an end, it will be canceled for good and the last payment was going to be for that month. A month or so ago, I received a notice saying I owe them money. I am extremely meticulous and there is no way I would have forgotten to pay that last bill. Being suspicious of this, I called them. They have told me that this was actually AN ADDITIONAL month that I have to pay for, because when you request a PAC code, it is useful for 30 days, and you thus have to pay for those extra 30 days. Also, according to the man on the phone, the contract does not end when it ends UNLESS you give a 30 days notice to end it even if there is a specific end date on your contract. I was not informed of any of this when I called to cancel. This has truly been a nightmare. I will add, though, that my brother has a VOXI and he is happy with it and it works for him. He does not seem to have any issues with it. However, I would not recommend to get into any long term contracts with this company and be aware of all the ways they try to cheat you out of money.
