These doors looked great, seemed very well made and are a pleasure to fit. However three years on, the varnish is cracked, bubbling and peeling. I asked Vu-fold about this, The woman seemed very helpful, and they suggested giving them a light sand and re-varnishing them, however the varnish has a stain in it, so unless you sanded all the varnish off every part of the doors and frames, and revarnished everything, you end up with a patchwork of unmatched revarnished areas. I wish I'd paid a bit more and gone for fit and forget aluminium doors, rather than these VERY HIGH MAINTENANCE!!! wooden ones. I think the only option now is to paint them, until i can afford to replace them with aluminium ones. If you like to varnish things constantly, go for these, but if you get a small crack or peel in the varnish, you are done for. Beware!!
