To be honest, I've always been very sceptical about e-cigarettes. I have smoked for pretty much the whole of the last nearly 20 years, having only managed to not smoke when pregnant or breastfeeding, or in the immediate days/weeks following yet another quit attempt. I have tried hypnotherapy, NRT using gum/patches, Allen Carr's Easyway, willpower and bloodymindedness...but I, for some reason, always eventually ended up smoking again. I didn't like the 'newness' of e-cigs; the lack of time needed for side effects to be discovered etc- but then I decided that I clearly wasn't managing to quit going cold turkey, so bought this e-pen thingy, thinking that it surely couldn't be more harmful than cigarettes. I'm happy to say I'm impressed. I'm only on day 4 of not smoking, so very aware that it's still early days, but I'm managing to not smoke without any real effort at all. I keep the pen at home, and sneak off for a little 'fix' if I feel it's needed. It's not the exact same hit you get from smoking a cig, but it takes enough of the edge off to stop me from walking to the shop and buying some. It was super easy and quick to set up, and arrived quickly too. If you're considering buying one in order to help with a quit attempt then go for it- I've already saved more than the cost of the starter kit just by not buying fags for 4 days, so it's win-win.
