We have put our water butt at the front of the house, as it has an excellent potential source of rainwater to fill it. This is not an immediate first choice and we have used the planting option to help soften the look. We are not gardeners and seasonal planting would also need to be considered. The current hose pipe ban doesn't help either. We've opted for artificial outdoor greenery and it looks good. We have a small front garden and further work is to be completed to finish the overall look. A picture is shown below.
