Due to Waves notorious “version updates” even a perpetual license for their audio plugins where you think you permanently own them is actually leasing the software from them if you wanted it to work for more than a year And no I don’t expect free updates on software forever .. but it should last for more than a year The plugins rarely add any new features after the “updates” it’s the Waves “shell” that gets updated This is the utter definition of “planned obsolescence” of making something on purpose that doesn’t have longevity so you have to keep on buying it In user experience design we call this deceptive technique a dark pattern Would be interesting if other musicians got together for a class action lawsuit.
