I have been a customer with Well.ca since 2012. From 2012 to Sept. 23, 2024, I have spent a total of $12,895.68 in orders. Until recently, I believe Well.ca always used Canada Post to deliver. Until now I have never had a reason to complain or contact Well.ca. My recent order was delivered not by Canada Post but a new contractor, TForce Logistics. Despite large professionally made signs on our locked front and side fence gates, which states that deliveries are at the rear of the house via the laneway, TForce, threw my package over the gate and left it out in the garden in the rain. Neither I nor my upstairs neighbour access the front area of the house (we each rent a flat in a house). By chance my upstairs neighbour found the package. It was soaked through, but luckily the items, packaged in plastic, survived. I googled TForce logistics. The company has a "F" rating with the Better Business Bureau and 32 unanswered outstanding complaints. Obviously, there is no point complaining to TForce. There are a multitude of on-line reviews for TForce leaving 1 star ratings. That Well.ca would switch from reliable Canada Post to a bottom-rung company like TForce is very disappointing. I am aware that Well.ca has been purchased by the private equity firm Birch Hill Equity Partners. While correlation is not causation, given the well documented practice of private equity firms squeezing every penny out of the companies they buy and leaving behind nothing but a ruined company, I think it is more likely than not this will be reflected in Well.ca's business practices going forward. I have confirmed that everything I regularly used to buy through Well.ca I can get through Amazon.ca. From today's date, I will no longer order from Well.ca due to this change in business practice (i.e. shipping) and the likelihood of more bad practices to follow.
