Got an online quote for my car - I chose to go with this company because they offered a range with a top and bottom end based on the car which seemed to give more certainty than other options. I went to the Coventry branch. The quote was between £8.8k and £9.8k. When I got there after a very cursory examination the assessor sat down and said that there were issues on every panel (which was incorrect - there were scratches on 4, 3 minor and 1 about 10cm long) and said the most he could offer was £7.5k. When queried and asked him to explain why the quote fell below the range they had offered online, the sales person got defensive and passive-aggressive and said that 'you are trying to bully me'. I was simply asking hm to explain why they gave a range and why they deemed me car to fall outside of that range. Their website says: It’s easy to entice customers in with an unrealistic, inflated promise, only to dash their hopes with a miniscule offer when they arrive. In fact, so easy that’s exactly what many of our competitors do. WE DON’T DO THAT. Instead, we offer a fairer, more realistic car value range, giving you the chance to honestly appraise your own car, which in turn allows us to offer the fairest (and usually the highest) price. But that is exactly what they did. Their website claims to give certainty and a guaranteed price, but it doesn't. I took the car to one of their competitors and sold it for £500 more than they offered.
