I am reworking the 1/2" x 6" dowels to be used in special looms for weaving plastic shopping bags into mats for the homeless I help in our area with food and clothing. I am drilling a 1/4" to 5/16" hole 1" from one end. I created a special drill fixture, see picture, to hold the dowel dead center. these then go into 48" log bases with about 46 holes for the dowels. I do not have pictures yet for the base but I'm proud of the ability to drill the cross holes in the dowels. I also want to let you know these dowels are wonderful for this project...
