Starve Acre follows the story of the Willoughbys who are struggling to cope after the death of their son. We know from the start that Ewan has died but dont find out until the end the circumstances. The atmosphere in this book is fantastic. The author definitely knows how to create a spooky air of suspense. Unfortunately I found that the story was lacklustre. It was confusing. The middle was fantastic, I really felt like the story was going somewhere after a slow start, but the ending didn't resolve anything. I felt like throughout the story there were multiple threads that never really got tied ip and I have finished the book feeling like I wanted more from it. I think there needed to be a different story set in the same atmosphere. This was sent to me free of charge to review.
